Just shortly ago I arrived back home after having the privilege of delivering the complete thank you prize pack to our winner!
Early this afternoon at the Chrysalis House we randomly drew a winner from all the people who donated on GoFundMe. The winner was Dianne Looker! We emailed her right then and she called me back a few hours later and we made arrangements for me to deliver. It was an incredible package and I’m once again humbled by all the donors, both businesses with the prizes and everyone who donated money.
Dianne was one of our anonymous donors on the fundraiser but she was very happy to allow me to publish her name, thank you so much Dianne. I hope you enjoy your awesome thank you prize!
The fundraiser is now over. Early this morning the last prize was revealed and at 10:00 am donations were turned off on the GoFundMe page. We broke the goal! The aim was to raise $1000 and we ended up having $1070 donated. Thank you so much to everyone who participated.
The support from our Annapolis Valley community is outstanding to me. This time is a busy time of year and has added financial pressures for us all. Despite that local businesses put up an amazing prize pack to give away, and we had people donate over $1000. Thank you again!
The Chrysalis House is certainly a deserving recipient of the generosity for all the hard, important work they do. As a reminder here is part of what they do 24 hours a day, 365 days a year including these holidays we are in right now.
Chrysalis House is a non-profit grassroots organization that provides shelter, support, counselling, advocacy, and outreach for abused women and their children. Services are available for women who have been psychologically, emotionally, physically, and/or sexually abused. We work with individuals, organizations and businesses in our community to end violence against women. Chrysalis House is located in Kentville, Nova Scotia. We serve the communities of Kings, Annapolis, and Hants County. Public education and community development are also important elements of our Association.
Later today we will get together at the Chrysalis House and find our winner!
Even though this fundraiser is over you can still donate to the Chrysalis House directly. If you visit their website at http://www.chrysalishouseassociation.org/ there is a link to Make a donation which you can do online when ever you are able.
Thanks so much to everyone who has donated so far, both businesses with their prizes, and everyone donating their hard earned money! We’ve reached the initial goal which was set of $1000. There is still a bit more time to donate and it won’t hurt anyones feelings if we blow the goal number away 😀
Tomorrow morning I’ll reveal the final prize earlier than normal. Then at 10:00am I’ll be turning off the GoFundMe campaign so it no longer is accepting donations. This will allow me to gather up all the names of those who have donated and all their entries. In the early afternoon we’ll be getting together with the Chrysalis House to pick the big winner! Shortly after that I’ll contact them by email to let them know.
Hello everyone! It’s that time of year that puts lots of us in a generous spirit. That includes some of the great businesses across the Annapolis Valley. A bunch of them have come together to help create this calendar of gifts to help support the Chrysalis House Association.
Starting December 1st, and going until December 24th, a gift from our awesome businesses will be revealed here. On the 24th you could take home each one of these prizes. All you need to do is use the GoFundMe.com link to go and donate to the Chrysalis House. For every $5 of donation you make, as a thank you, you’ll have a chance to win.
At the end all the funds you donate, minus the fees from GoFundMe, will go directly to the Chrysalis House to help support the great work they do in our community.
Let’s have some fun and see how much we can raise!
Thanks to @evilpez4 on Twitter for this awesome idea and help getting things setup. Of course huge thanks also to all the businesses who have made this possible.
